Sue Ilg

2018 President

Sue Ilg was born in Long Beach, California but was raised in the San Jose/Saratoga area. She went to Bethany Bible College in Scotts Valley (near Santa Cruz) to become an elementary school teacher. Due to Prop 13, she could not find a teaching position, so she turned to the financial world. She worked for Dean Witter and Merrill Lynch for a total of 30 years. During her three years hiatus from the corporate world she served as a member on the Women's Nine Hold golf Association (WNHGA) Board. She then decided to return to the work place doing something she loved and elected to join WGANC. She has been with them for more than three years and works answering questions about handicapping, course rating and rules.

She and her husband, Harald Ilg, have been married for 25 years and live in the Castlewood Country Club area. Harald is a Project Manager for Siemens Industry and is keeping her in a lifestyle she is accustomed to. They are members of Castlewood CC in Pleasanton and have been playing golf for about 20 years, but had to relearn how to play after a medical condition left her right side in a very weakened state, and was not able to swing for about 3 years. She says that one of the happiest days in her life was when she could swing a club again.
